The master's, specialist and doctoral programs at Argosy University reflect our understanding that a counselor's job is different from what it was decades ago. The emotional conditions of the classroom and the family unit are much more complex, so our academic programs need to be more specific and far-reaching.
Our programs help working professionals develop skills and intuition that help them competently diagnose problems early, and thus can be a vital role in today's workplace, education systems and private practices.
Community Counseling (M.A.)
The program’s curriculum integrates conceptual foundations of professional counseling with training in client intervention and advocacy. Ask your admissions representative about additional concentrations available in tandem to the core curriculum.
Mental Health Counseling (M.A.)
Our program covers basic counseling skills that integrate theoretical foundations of professional counseling into client interaction and intervention skills. Upon graduation, your state may require another two years of post-master’s supervised practice to obtain licensure as a mental health counselor.
School Counseling (M.A.)
This program integrates counseling skills based on the American School Counselor Association’s national model with professional counseling theoretical foundations and field experience. Due to variations among states and laws, graduates should verify licensing requirements of each state of residence.
Counselor Education and Supervision (Ed.D.)
The Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program is designed to help current practitioners with existing master’s-level preparation advance and compete with the growing number of doctorate-level counseling practitioners.
Pastoral Community Counseling (Ed.D.)
Our program is designed to prepare religious community leaders in their personal and professional development by helping them learn to build significant contributions to their community and society.
School Counseling (Ed.S.)
Our 30-semester-credit-hour Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in School Counseling program is designed for experienced professionals who have master’s degrees in other fields and wish to become school counselors.
Please note that not all degree programs are offered at all locations.
